The role is to undertake independent unannounced and announced monthly visits of our children’s homes (Regulation 44 visits) and provide the reports necessary for submission to Ofsted.
At First Blue we strive for excellence of care to our young people and our aim is for all of our children’s homes to have an Ofsted rating of “Good” or “Outstanding”. The reports will combine physical visits to the home each month as well as conducting some of the inspection using our on-line systems.

Job Role:

  • • The visitor must provide a rigorous and impartial assessment of the homes arrangements for safeguarding and promoting children and young people’s welfare.
  • • Evaluate the quality of care provided by talking to the children and young people regarding their experience of care in the home.
  • • Provide recommendations about ways the effectiveness of the home can be improved.
  • • Produce a report giving an overview of the inspection and required recommendations.
  • • Alert the director of care if a safeguarding concern is identified with immediate effect.

Job Specification:

  • • Significant experience of working in the children’s care sector either as a manager of a children’s home with a level 5 diploma , social worker, independent visitor experience.
  • • An excellent understanding of the Children’s Home (England) Regulations 2015 (including the quality standards) and the social care common inspection framework.
  • • Demonstrate experience of quality assurance within children’s residential serviced including file and paperwork audits.
  • • Excellent communication skills and in particular the ability to engage with young people and their networks.
  • • Proven report writing skills.
  • • The ability to provide recommendations on how to improv our services for the benefit of the young people in our care.
  • • Understanding of safeguarding and GDPR in practice.
  • • The ability to travel and undertake visits in the Midlands and North West areas.
  • • Be able when necessary to undertake visits at weekends and evenings in order to ensure they are able to meet with the children.
