Focus on career progression for our residential childcare workers
At First Blue Healthcare, we pride ourselves on the high level of training and development of our team. In 2022 two of our registered managers were promoted to operations/responsible individuals, and three of our deputy managers were promoted to managers. It is our vision to promote from within wherever possible and we work hard to retain our teams.
One of our support workers has joined the referral team and hopefully, this will be an exciting new career for her.
New homes and an outstanding Ofsted
We also opened another new home in the West Midlands, The Coach House, and we will be opening several more new homes throughout 2023.
2022 also saw our first Outstanding Ofsted and we are all really proud of the achievement and hope to increase this in 2023.
Retaining staff through motivation
We provide beautiful homes for our young people to live in and all of the children are absolutely thriving, they are all in education and many have part-time jobs. This is one of the reasons retention at First Blue Healthcare is so high, we have motivated people working with our children who are provided with regular training, support and the ability to progress.
Training and development in 2023
Moving forward, we intend to continue to improve our training and development and are constantly looking at ways of achieving this. One popular approach is our ‘your voice heard’ email scheme, where staff can email ideas and suggestions and if used, they receive vouchers. We have already had a couple of good ideas that have been put into action.
Young Person’s Forum
We wouldn’t want to end the review without mentioning First Blue Healthcare’s ‘Young Person’s Forum’. One of our main objectives this year is to move forward with the project. The aim is to enable the children and young people in our care to truly have a voice and therefore improve the outcomes for young people who come into the care system. After all, who knows better than what the children need, than themselves!
